Eureka Mignon Specialità burr replacement
Hi, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video, I’m going to show you how to replace the burrs. Let’s look at how to replace the burrs on this Eureka Mignon Specialità.
We remove the hopper. In this case, we have to remove the Eureka emblem which hides a screw that we need to loosen and remove, so as to be able to remove the “lid”. We find the upper burr with three screws, which we unscrew, so we can remove the upper burr. Here, the grinder is already clean, however we clean and vacuum any coffee residue, both in the grinding chamber and the upper burr, with the help of a vacuum and a brush.
Now we can remove the screws of the lower burr: hold the shaft steady and loosen the three screws. Then we remove the lower burr. We do the same thing for the upper burr. Remember that we have to clean both the grinding chamber and the upper burr, then we replace with a pair of new burrs.
We reinsert the lower burr. Once again here, it doesn’t matter which burr we install in one position or another. This is not the case for all models, but if so, it’s specified on the burr packaging: the burr that goes in the stationary position and the burr that goes in the grinding chamber attached to the drive shaft. We secure the drive shaft so we can tighten the screws. Don’t forget: they don’t have to be overly tight. In actual fact, it’s enough to just secure the screw.
The same thing goes for the other burr that goes into the upper burr holder. Once again here, you don’t have to tighten it too much. The important thing is to ensure that the screws are inserted correctly so that they don’t create problems with the threads. Once tightened, align the holes in the upper burr holder and reinsert the three screws. In this case, we can use more force and tighten well.
We put the lid back on, the screw and the emblem. At this point, we reinstall the hopper, add the coffee, and reattach the power cable, turn on the grinder and set the grind so that, once again in this case, using a double portafilter, with 16 g of coffee in 25 seconds, we’ll get around double the liquid.
