Basic latte art: heart
Hi, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video, I’m going to show you a basic latte art design: the heart.
We purge our wand, as always, placing the tip of the wand 1 cm below the surface of the milk always remembering to place it at an angle to form a vortex. We bring the milk to the desired temperature: 55 max. 65 degrees centigrade. Then we purge and clean the wand again. At this point, we are going to create silky microfoam: we rotate the contents of the milk jug so that the foam and milk mix together.
Then we split the milk into two parts using another milk jug, trying to get the same amount of foam and milk in both. We grab the cup and break the surface of the coffee starting with the jug held high, toward the centre, then we stop midway and move the tip of the milk jug closer to the surface of the coffee, creating a monk’s head design.
At the end, we lift up the milk jug and cut through to form a heart.
