Mother’s Earth best allies
The department of Tolima is one of the country’s emblematic coffee-growing regions. It benefits from the best geographical and climatic conditions, with fertile mountain soils, ideal altitudes and a temperate tropical climate
This coffee is produced by Asocanafi, a cooperative of indigenous coffee growers with more than 170 members in the protected areas of Planadas and Gaitania regions.Their belief in protecting Mother Earth make them the best allies for producing one of Colombia’s most respectful coffees using organic farming practices.
Asocanafi was founded in 2011 with 36 members, indigenous men and women from the community of La Palmera village in the Páez de Gaitania indigenous reserve, with a single goal: to revive the famous “community minga” applied to coffee production.

The Cloud Factory
The idea was born by young people with an entrepreneurial vision who had acquired their knowledge at the University of the Unified National Corporation of Colombia (CUN), and who decided to return and put their knowledge into practice in the field.
Coffee is grown in a high-altitude area often covered by clouds (it is from this particularity that its name derives, since “Fábrica” comes from “Cloud Factory”).
Furthermore we are proud to share the fact that this coffee reached Europe on a beautiful cargo sailboat named Anemos: transport by sail is 4 times less emissive than a conventional cargo ship over the entire life of the vessel.

-90% CARBON FOOTPRINT
In 2014 Belco focused on three key milestones: quality, traceability and transparency. Ten years later they launched “FCCO”, Fresh Coffee Clean Ocean program enabling a new form of integrity and impact on earth by shipping coffee on a sail cargo boat, creating conditions for a more desirable future.
By reducing up to 90% of the carbon footprint, this new method brought other great benefits, not only for the environment but also for the coffee itself.
Coffee beans retained a better taste because of temperature’s consistency (inside the boat) and the fact that it is not transported via containers. Furthermore, transit time is shorter from the origin country to the consumers’ ones.
All this has been done in order to be able to offer a better tasting and a more sustainable coffee.
By drinking this product, you stand for a better coffee and even more for a better planet.
