Best soil for coffee growth
Hi, I’m Prunella from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and I’ll describe the best soil for coffee growth.
Soil can be ideal from a physical and chemical point of view.
From the chemical point of view, we have an advantage because sometimes its chemical composition can be modified to favor plant growth. Since it is more difficult to alter the physical part, the soil has to be correct from the physical point of view.
In general, the ideal soil for a coffee plant has to be slightly acid, deep enough to allow, especially for arabica, the penetration of roots, and porous to ensure enough oxygen for the roots.
Also, it has to be permeable, but still capable to keep some water, and rich in organic materials which reduce soil erosion.
