Chemex
Hello, I’m Paolo from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and in this video I will talk about Chemex, an object of worship for coffee lovers of alternative brewings.
It was invented in the early 1940s by Peter Schlumbohm, a German chemist living in New York.
He was inspired by the shapes and design of the Bauhaus architectural movement born in the 1930s in Germany.
We recommend this brewing method for our Dirompenti coffees: Buenos Aires and La Pradera.
The water’s temperature has to be between 88 and 92 Celsius degrees. The recommended dose of coffee and water is 60 grams per liter for the six cups Chemex, and 30 grams for the half a liter Chemex.
We suggest a medium grind, similar to coarse sand.
Also, the desirable total brewing time ranges from 3 to 5 minutes.
