Amount of raw coffee produced in different countries
Hello, I’m Prunella from “Le Piantagioni del Caffè” and I will talk about the amount of raw coffee produced in some of the producing countries.
Generally, the quantity is measured in bags of 60 kg.
All producing countries produce a very different quantity. For each of them, raw coffee has a unique impact on the economy.
Some examples. Brazil is the first producer in the world for quantity.
It produces mainly Arabica and, in one year, it produces about 60 million bags of 60 kg of raw coffee.
Vietnam, which is the second-largest producer, produces 30 million bags of raw coffee, mainly low-quality Robusta. While Ethiopia produces only 7 million.
But, for the Ethiopian Market, coffee plays a very important role because it has such a high-quality coffee that all of it must be exported.
That is to say, Ethiopians cannot keep any of it inside the country.
This gives you an idea of how high is the value of coffee for the Ethiopian people.
The last example, El Salvador produces about 700 thousand bags per year.
Therefore there this kind of product is less important than in the other three countries we talked about before.
