A breath of fresh air on the Italian coffee scene
Eleonora and Valentina, young baristas who believe in the potential of quality coffee.
Having worked for years in the coffee business in London, Eleonora and Valentina decided to move home and set themselves a challenge: to open an innovative coffee shop in Italy. They chose Pisa – a university and tourist city – as their location, and since 2014 they’ve brought a breath of fresh air to the Italian coffee scene. We’ve been by their side from the very beginning. We have done product research with them and adapted our offering to their needs, so we can grow and improve together.
We immediately felt a great affinity with them, which is why we continue to support them on their journey!
Eleonora and Valentina introduced themselves and described their business venture as follows:
“Hi, we’re Valentina and Eleonora. In 2014, we decided to open Filter Coffee Lab, to bring a bit of our experience in London to Italy. We worked in the coffee business in London, so we decided to try and do the same in Italy, choosing Pisa as our location. We thought Pisa would be a suitable place because it has several universities, and a young population that is open to innovation in every sector – and coffee is no exception. So we had a go, and took a pretty big risk. It wasn’t the easiest period, everyone was telling us not to open, not to leave London! But we believed in it, and luckily everything went well. We’ve earned some great accolades, as we’ve been included in the Lonely Planet guide and listed among the Best Coffee Shops in the Gambero Rosso guide. We immediately felt in tune with Le Piantagioni del Caffè, and have been with them since 2014, so forever. We really liked them as people, but of course we also loved the products we tasted. They respond to our needs and requests, for example with the various extractions we offer such as V60, Filter Coffee, Espresso, Cold Brew. We’re very pleased and think that the risk paid off, even though there’s still a lot more to be done! We hope to continue, onwards and upwards, with Piantagioni del Caffè by our side!”
