Pour over
A very visually appealing coffee extraction method, based on percolation, that consists of pouring hot water over ground coffee placed in a filter, positioned above a drink collection system.
The method relies exclusively on the force of gravity to allow the water to move through the ground coffee and extract the aromatic substances to obtain the desired drink following filtration.
The method was invented in the early 20th century by Melitta Bentz who, tired of drinking coffee grounds, invented a porcelain cone with three holes at the base in which a paper filter containing the ground coffee could be inserted.
The cone was then placed on the containers, which would collect the extracted coffee.
