Promoting Italian products in a highly touristic destination.
In San Gimignano, Marco Nencini and his sisters took over the family business and shaped it over the years to promote the Italian farm-to-table ingredients and disclose to the public the good underlying their products.
The care and attention that they devote to the cafeteria is no exception: in order to offer always the best to their customers, besides selecting quality coffee, Marco and his staff regularly attend training courses to ensure that the restaurant crew is always updated on the correct preparation techniques, maintenance and cleaning practices of their equipment.
For years, we have been sharing with Marco the passion for quality and a trustworthy relationship!
Here is Marco’s self-introduction and an overview of his business:
“Hi, I’m Marco Nencini of Magnino Bistrot in San Gimignano. In 2004 my sisters and I decided to take over the family business and over time we have developed it.
At the beginning it was just a simple bar (the first in the village, though) with a public telephone, a billiards table, some decks of cards, but we have gradually shaken it up, piece by piece.
The change started from the cafeteria. Despite an old-fashioned location, we tried to stand out for the high quality and exclusiveness of our products, which our competitors could not offer or were not able to select.
In 2016 we took the biggest step: the complete makeover of our location. We started from here to shape the offer in the best possible way, and as far as we could, to look for particular products, preferably farm-to-table and Italian: people from all over the world come to visit Italy, so there’s no point in aping foreign products. Now we also offer fresh pasta made to order, just so we have plenty of both hard work and satisfactions! If I’m not mistaken, our relationship with Le Piantagioni del Caffè began in 2014 and, to me they are more of a partner than a supplier. At that time, I had started to attend courses about coffee in general and about cupping and it was just then that I appreciated the quality of their products, which goes far beyond the beans: their staff is very well prepared and they embrace our same idea. Partners such as Le Piantagioni del Caffè are most welcome because they can offer top-quality products allowing us to be different from all the others! In my opinion being original is the only key to a long-lasting business and to make us recognizable on the market.”
